The Executive Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area, Hon. Uyo Ukpanah, has reaffirmed his commitment to peace and unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ukanafun Chapter.
The Chairman made this declaration during a meeting with the 11 ward chairmen of the area on 4th August, 2025, amid preparations for the party membership registration and revalidation exercises currently ongoing.
The interim political leader of Ukanafun attributed the return of political stability in the area to the leadership of Governor Umo Eno.
“I have brought peace through the leadership and wisdom of Governor Umo Eno,” he declared, urging the ward chairmen to embrace inclusiveness and avoid any act that could divide the party.
He emphasized that the success of the revalidation exercise depends on collective effort and transparency, stressing that no member, old or new, should be excluded or victimized.
“We must carry everyone along. This is not the time for factions or personal interests. Governor Umo Eno made a wise move by aligning fully with the people.
As interim political leader, I will ensure unity and work towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and our Governor,” he stated.
Ward 1 Incident and Caution on Party Protocols
While commending the collaboration so far, Hon. Ukpanah cautioned against disobedience to state directives, citing a recent incident involving the Chairman of Ward 1.
He berated the ward chairman for issuing a notice on Sunday, August 3, and appointing a stakeholder without proper consultation, which he said was contrary to the Governor’s instruction and established party protocols.
“Such unilateral actions will not be tolerated. Ward 1 remains the only ward where we’ve experienced disruptions against the Governor’s clear directive.
That must not repeat,” he warned.
Calls for Reconciliation and a United Front
Also speaking at the meeting, the Council Secretary, Pastor Odudu Jonah, called for total reconciliation and unity among political stakeholders.
He recalled his role as a major financier of the APC in Ukanafun before joining the PDP, emphasizing the need for a unified political front.
“Now that the state has embraced unity in the platform of APC, I am returning to my home.
We must chart a new course together. This is an opportunity to move forward with a common purpose,” Pastor Jonah said.
Forum of Ward Chairmen Pledges Support
In a show of solidarity, the Chairman of the Forum of Ward Chairmen, Mr. Wisdom Udo, expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman for his guidance and reaffirmed the forum’s loyalty and readiness to support his administration.
“We are grateful that peace has returned. On behalf of all ward chairmen, I assure you that we will not fail in our duty.
The revalidation exercise will be a success, and Ukanafun will remain united under your leadership,” Udo said.

The meeting ended with a unanimous resolution to uphold the party’s unity, enforce discipline, and ensure grassroots mobilization for the party’s continued success.
