Engineering Automation Technology Limited (EATECH), an indigenous oil and gas firm, has donated fully built and furnished cutting-edge Chemistry, Physics, and Biology laboratories to Esteem Schools, Abak, Akwa Ibom State, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to its host community.
According to a statement released Monday, the new facilities represent a major upgrade to the school’s academic infrastructure.
During the official commissioning of the laboratories, EATECH’s Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Emmanuel Okon, stressed the role of knowledge in solving society’s most pressing challenges—particularly in the areas of science and technology.
“The challenge to society is ignorance, and the solution to this is knowledge,” Dr. Okon said, urging students to put the labs to good use and preserve them for future generations.
Dr. Okon also announced EATECH’s next CSR commitment: the construction of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre for Esteem Schools. The planned facility will not only support official CBT exams but also enhance ICT skills for students and staff.
Training will include basic ICT applications, coding, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and programming, making the school a hub for digital learning.
In her remarks, the Director of Schools, Mrs. Esitmbom Ekpo, expressed heartfelt gratitude to EATECH for delivering on its promise.
She recalled that the company had pledged during the 2024 graduation ceremony to build labs of global standards, and she was thrilled that this commitment was fulfilled in time for the 2025 graduation.
“This is a promise made and fulfilled, and we are confident that this infrastructure will significantly enhance the learning experience of the students,” she said.
The donation underscores EATECH’s growing role in educational development and its dedication to the long-term empowerment of Akwa Ibom’s future leaders through science and technology.
