The Executive Chairman of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Gideon Uwa, has officially flagged off the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the council, restating his administrationโs resolve to deepen democracy through inclusive participation.
Speaking at the launch, Uwa described the CVR as a vital process in strengthening Nigeriaโs electoral system. He encouraged eligible residents especially first-time voters and those who had relocated to seize the opportunity to register and update their details.
The chairman also announced plans to renovate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Etim Ekpo, noting that the intervention was aimed at providing a conducive environment for both INEC staff and citizens accessing electoral services.

He further charged ward representatives including Personal Assistants to the Governor at the ward level, councillors, and supervisors to be good ambassadors of the exercise and to mobilize residents towards achieving the registration targets.
The Electoral Officer for Etim Ekpo, Mrs. Zilly Elemson, lauded the chairman for his continuous support to the commission. She said the councilโs intervention would ease challenges faced by INEC staff and further boost turnout for the CVR exercise.
Goodwill messages came from the Deputy Leader of Council, Dr. Lydia Akpan, and the Dean of the College of Personal Aides to the Governor, Hon. Senyom Ekeke, who pledged the cooperation of councillors and aides respectively.
