Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has credited the success of his administration to the relentless prayers of God’s servants across the State, noting that the prevailing peace and stability being enjoyed in the State are direct results of spiritual intercession.
Governor Eno, who spoke during a Sunday worship service at Revival Valley Ministries International along IBB Avenue, Uyo, said the peaceful transition of power and sustained atmosphere of unity in Akwa Ibom could only be traced to divine grace and the supplications of men and women of God.
“Our success as an administration, I believe more than anything else, is attributed to the prayers of men and women of God in this State, and our success is a confirmation that God has been answering those prayers.”
The Governor, visibly moved by the condition of the church environment affected by flooding, ordered immediate action towards flood control around the IBB axis. He directed the State Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, and the Managing Director of Hensek Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko, to swing into action and map out an intervention plan for the area.
According to him, the decision to worship at the church was not premeditated but came as a leading of the Holy Spirit—a move he said ultimately revealed the poor drainage situation around the church and neighbouring structures.
He commended the General Overseer of the church, Archbishop Idem Ikon, for his enduring faith, steadfastness, and unwavering support for the government, describing him as “a pillar in the Lord’s vineyard.”
“Sir, we are here to share fellowship with you. And, we are so blessed by your teaching today. We are heartily so proud of you as our grandfather in the Lord.”
Governor Eno used the platform to once again appeal to Christians across denominational lines to reject any attempt to politicize the church or create divisions in the name of faith or affiliation.
“We should stop using religious sentiments to divide the body of Christ. If we accept that God brought me from nowhere to lead our State today, and I accept that myself, then, we should not try to control what God will do with a man that we all believe God brought for a time like this. Let’s believe that he is also acting the script of God that has been fore written.”
Earlier in his sermon, Archbishop Ikon, who preached on the topic “We Need One Another” drawn from 1 Corinthians 12:12‑23, warned against self‑devaluation and reminded the faithful that every believer carries a distinct divine assignment that must not be looked down on.
