The Akwa Ibom State Government yesterday stormed Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area with a truckload of palliatives in continuation of the third phase of the Free Food Distribution Exercise under Governor Umo Eno’s Food Security Programme.
Thousands of beneficiaries, drawn from all the 13 wards of the LGA, eagerly turned up to receive food supplies, including bags of rice and beans.
Governor Umo Eno was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, who was accompanied by the General Manager of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim, and the SSA to the Governor on Trade & Market Matters, Hon. Idorenyin Raphael.
On hand to receive the team and ensure a smooth and orderly distribution were the Chairman of Ibiono Ibom LGA, Hon. Asuakak Umoh; the Member representing Ibiono Ibom in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Moses Essien; the Secretary of Council, Arc. Stephen Charles; Councillors; and Ward Personal Assistants to the Governor.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Umo Eno for the initiative, noting that the gesture has not only lifted their spirits but also given them a renewed sense of belonging in the state’s governance process.
