Makurdi – In a dramatic turn of events, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, has officially resigned from his position.
In a resignation letter dated 24th August, 2025, and addressed to the Clerk of the House, Dajoh announced his decision to step down as Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly with immediate effect.
According to the letter, the Speaker said his resignation was done “in good faith and in the best interest of the state.” He went on to appreciate his colleagues for giving him the opportunity to serve as “first among equals.”
Despite stepping down as Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dajoh pledged to remain committed to his duties as a legislator and representative of Gboko West State Constituency.
This development marks a significant shift in the leadership of the Benue State legislature, and further details are expected to unfold in the coming days.
