Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent tragic incidents in Niger and Adamawa States, which resulted in the loss of lives, destruction of property, and the displacement of residents.

In Niger State, a boat carrying 43 passengers, 60 bags of paddy rice, three cows, and two rams capsized in Zumba, Shiroro LGA, after reportedly hitting a tree. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, claimed about 15 lives. The boat was said to be en route to the Zumba weekly market.

In Adamawa State, flooding in Yola North and Yola South LGAs led to the death of five persons, injured over 50, and displaced many more. The flood swept through several communities, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

Reacting to both incidents, Speaker Abbas expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the affected communities, and the governments of both states.

He described the tragedies as painful reminders of the vulnerability of citizens to natural disasters, and he called for urgent interventions and relief efforts from both public and private agencies.

“These are sad developments. My prayers are with the victims and their loved ones. May Allah (SWT) prevent further occurrences,” he said.
