…as party leaders resolve to strengthen cohesion and ensure peaceful primaries
In a major move to consolidate the growing strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the 2027 general elections, Governor Umo Eno and the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday led a high-powered stakeholders’ meeting where party leaders resolved to deepen unity, sustain internal harmony, and work collectively towards electoral victory for the APC in the State.
The strategic meeting, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, brought together party executives, elected officials, political leaders, and stakeholders from across the State in what was described as a crucial gathering to reinforce party cohesion ahead of the forthcoming primaries and the 2027 elections.
At the meeting, Governor Eno formally consulted party stakeholders on his intention to seek re-election for a second term as Governor on the APC platform in 2027, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio on his re-election bid to the Senate. He thanked party leaders and faithful for their loyalty, steadfastness, and commitment to the party, while soliciting continued support to ensure victory for all APC candidates in the next election cycle.
“This meeting is called so that we can sit down and talk as a family,” the Governor stated, emphasizing the need for unity, loyalty, and collective responsibility among party members. He also charged stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible party primary process, stressing that internal harmony remains critical to the party’s success.
Governor Eno subsequently announced the constitution of a committee to oversee the forthcoming party primaries that will produce candidates for various elective positions, while urging party members to place the collective interest of the APC above personal ambitions.
Also speaking, Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended Governor Eno for fostering unity within the APC and promoting peace and political stability in Akwa Ibom State. Senator Akpabio equally informed stakeholders of his intention to seek another term in the Senate representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in the 2027 elections.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Chairman of the APC, Stephen Ntukekpo, described the gathering as a critical stakeholders’ meeting convened to deepen cohesion within the party ahead of the primaries and general elections.
Ntukekpo commended party faithful for their dedication and unwavering support for the APC, announcing that the screening exercise for aspirants seeking various elective offices had been concluded successfully. According to him, the process was peaceful, transparent, and orderly, a development he attributed to the maturity and discipline of party members and aspirants.
“We must remain united. No personal interest should be greater than the collective interest of the party,” Ntukekpo charged, while applauding Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, which he said has continued to make tangible impacts across the State. He urged stakeholders to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far and sustain the party’s growing acceptance among the people.
